Maharishi School of the Age of Enlightenment
Maharishi School of the Age of Enlightenment (kindergarten– 12th grade) develops the highest ideals in the students’ lives through Consciousness-Based education, the best education in the world. The students learn modern subjects — science, mathematics, computers, literature, writing — along with traditional principles of Maharishi Vedic ScienceSM, Sanskrit, Maharishi Gandharva Veda music, and Maharishi Consciousness-Based Health care.
Maharishi School students practice the Maharishi Transcendental Meditation and TM-Sidhi programs, including Yogic Flying, to awaken the total creative potential of their brain. They also learn the value of a healthy daily routine, harmonious behavior, and cultural integrity. They enjoy 200% of life — 100% academic and material success and 100% inner development of consciousness, creative intelligence, and fulfillment.
Maharishi School offers boarding for students in grades 9– 12.
Maharishi School is famous around the world for its achievements in academics, the arts, creative problem solving, sports, and student quality of life. Here is a partial list of Maharishi School’s achievements in recent years:
Maharishi School students also excel in sports. In 2000, for the second straight year, the Maharishi School boys tennis team won the celebrated Triple Crown, capturing Iowa’s singles, doubles, and team tennis titles (Iowa Class 1-A) — the first school in Iowa history to win two Triple Crowns (only one school had ever won the Triple Crown at all). By 2002 Maharishi School had won a total of 16 state tennis championships; only one other Iowa School has won as many, and Maharishi School has played tennis only since 1988.
In Destination ImagiNation, an international team-based problem-solving competition, Maharishi School teams typically win between a quarter and a third of the first place awards at the state level, and no other school in the world has had as many teams place in the top ten in the world finals, including a first place in 2001.
“What the Maharishi School has is a method of reaching children that is neither religious nor cult-inspired. Rather, it attempts to create conditions — both external in the environment and internal in the mind — under which learning can thrive, and living can be a joy, not a burden.” — Kitty Thuermer, “Transcendental Education,” in Independent School magazine
"When it comes to competition in the arts and the more genteel sports — tennis, running, golf and the like — are Maharishi kids taking over or what?"
— Des Moines Register columnist Chuck Offenberger, February 24, 1998
"Our Consciousness-Based education provides the missing elements in education today. Maharishi School’s extraordinary success speaks for itself.”
— School Director Dr. Ashley Deans

“I am so impressed with the wonderful knowledge offered at the Maharishi School of the Age of Enlightenment in Fairfield. Maharishi School is probably the best in the world. Only six schools in the whole of India are at a similar level in my opinion. Enough was enough with all the school violence elsewhere in America. We are very pleased with the progress our children have made in Maharishi School.”
— Deepak Bakshi, restaurant owner
“As parents we are proud and deeply content with the education and beautiful experiences that our daughter had during her years at Maharishi School. We would encourage any parents that want the best for their children’s education to consider Maharishi School, for its commitment to the highest standards of ideal education is impeccable. Our city is very fortunate to have this great school in our community.”
— Ed Malloy, Mayor of Fairfield and President Danaher Oil, and Vicky Malloy
